Cash Prizes, Incentives, Too Much? Are we shooting ourselves?

Ok there seems to be some debate going on over at Tim Lindens Blog, about givng away incentives or prizes for surfing. I would like to know what you the members of MTP think about this, do we give away too much? Not enough? Does it matter to you? Are we ( TE owners collectively) creating problems for ourselves or are we helping our members with awards?

Each traffic exchange owner has to decide what is good for themselves and their traffic exchange. What is important to the surfer is what kind of results are they getting.
There are some owners who seem t think their way of rewarding their surfers is the ONLY way it should be done – Not so 🙂
I think you are doing fine with your prizes.

I think your prizes are just fine. 🙂 Between that addicting maximizer wheel and the various promos you run, you’ve got a good combination of prizes to satisfy everyone and keep it interesting. And you don’t make anyone surf a rediculous amount of sites for it either. Keep up the great work!
(Oh maybe some chocolate thrown in there once in awhile, LOL) 😛

I thought all TEs offer some form of incentives or prizes to the surfers. I was under the impression that surfing for money was the problem. The ones where you get money for each site you view. I would think that clicking for money would defeat the quality of viewers.

I would like to add that I like the prizes you offer. Each one of them is a winner. For what it’s worth, I do not like some TE’s prizes that you click on something and lose, never cared much for the gambling feel.

everyone surfing on the internet,whether they are a advertiser or not doesn’t mind winning prizes. i would think that with all the competion out there,if offering cash or prizes keeps members motivated to your te sites, more power to what ever type of prize is offered.

I myself can see where cash everyday could hurt,But only if they are surfing for the cash. Now on the other hand if they are loyal members that are surfing everyday whether you give cash or not is a different story. It is a great way for Owners to give back to the paying members as well, It is truly up to the owner how much and how often we give cash for prizes if the Owner can afford it go for it I say. the name of the game is to do whatever it takes to give members the best that the exchange has to offer as it is in any business,You have to spend money to make money and that is the concept that will never change LOL.
Hi William, I think its really up to the TE’s owners to work out what is best for their business. Ultimately people will stay with traffic exchanges if they are working for them. If they don’t deliver traffic or sign ups then people will vote with their feet (or clicking finger) and leave. If owners are on top of their business then they will know how many ppl are coming and going and market/plan accordingly. Personally I would far rather win credits than small amounts of money as that saves me surfing time. Any money I do win isn’t going to make any significant difference to my life. Thanks 🙂
